Tinder in 2025: Free or paid? Everything you need to know
Tinder is still the most popular dating app worldwide. The reason is simple: it is approachable and has the lowest entry threshold of all dating apps. You can create an account within minutes with your phone number or Facebook account and start swiping right away.
But precisely because Tinder is so easy to use, the app is often considered the most superficial seen. Whereas Hinge and Bumble put more emphasis on profile questions and personal prompts, Tinder is mostly about photos and first impressions. That can work in your favor - provided your photos are good.
The free version of Tinder
With the free version you can:
Liking and swiping profiles in your immediate vicinity
Getting matches and sending messages
Use one free Superlike per day
The downside is that you are limited in the number of likes per day and do not have access to useful features such as swiping back (Rewind) or making yourself visible outside your region.
Paid versions: Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum

My advice: which version suits you?
Beginners or men with few good pictures
→ Stick with the free version or use Hinge. On Tinder, you pay for more visibility, but if your photos aren't strong, it won't yield many extra matches.
Busy men with little time
→ Choose at least Tinder Gold. You can instantly see who has already liked you, which saves a lot of time
Active users who want maximum results→ Tinder Platinum gives you most of the features, including priority on swipes. Especially useful if you travel often and want to be immediately visible in a new city.
Tip: always buy your Tinder subscription through the browser (tinder.com) rather than through the app. There, prices are often significantly cheaper because Apple and Google don't take a commission.
Dating apps are important, but photos determine the difference
No matter which version of Tinder you use, your profile hinges on your photos. Poor selfies or indistinct group photos mean that even a Platinum subscription is of little benefit.
